Powerflushing is the generic term for cleaning a central heating system.
Most heating systems are designed with a life expectancy of 15 - 20 years, however the build up of magnetite sludge and subsequent corrosion can shorten this and lead to lower heat performance. This dense corrosive, black sediment can clog pumps, reduce water flow cause boiler noise and lead to cold spots in individual radiators. With advanced states of corrosion indicated by black water being drawn from a radiator drain of point or air valve.
Powerflushing is the fastest and most effective means of cleaning sludge and corrosion debris from central heating systems, utilizing a high flow of water to loosen and ultimately expel the debris, usually containing large quantities of black iron oxide, from the system.
How Does it Work?
We simply temporarily remove your circulating pump and connect the power flushing unit to the two open ends of the pipes.
Once the corrosion and sludge deposits have been loosened and mobilized, Fresh clean water is forced through the heating system, pushing the contaminated water out through the flushing pumps dump valve to waste. During the process radiators are individually flushed without removing or disconnecting them from the system.
At the end of the flushing process the system contains fresh clean water and reinstatement of the system to normal operation only takes a few minutes.
It is very simple, but hugely effective it will clean out your system making it run a lot more efficiently, and it doesn't take long a average three bed house takes about five hours.
